The Illinois Restaurant Association has partnered with the Illinois Hotel & Lodging Association to offer ServSafe Sanitation Manager Certification classes at NO COST for a limited time. With in-person classes offered in both English
and Spanish, the IRA is the best solution for your Food Service Sanitation Certification needs.
Classes include a ServSafe text book, certificate and exam. Attendees must present a valid photo ID, complete all hours of training, and
achieve a 70% on the exam to receive the certification. Late attendance is not permitted.

A RESERVATION FEE OF $100 IS REQUIRED TO RESERVE A SEAT IN CLASS. This fee will be reimbursed upon completion of the training. No shows, and cancellations received less than 48 hours in advance
of the scheduled class will forfeit this reservation fee.

IF A CLASS DATE IS FULL — While not guaranteed, seats almost always become available on the morning of class due to “no shows”. If your preferred class date is full, call us at 312-787-4000 to reserve your place on the Wait List and secure your place in line. You are also welcome to just walk in on the morning of class. Seating will be assigned as it becomes available, based first on the Wait List order, and then on a first-come, first-served basis. Whether you are on the Wait List, or you are a walk-in, you must arrive no later than 8:30am on the day of class.
About ServSafe Sanitation Certification Classes
ServSafe is the most widely-accepted food safety
program among state, local and federal health departments. ServSafe Foodservice Sanitation Manager Certification Classes offered by the Illinois Restaurant Association (IRA) are approved by the Illinois Department of Health and all municipalities,
including the City of Chicago, and qualify successful students for both state and local certification.
IRA instructors are recognized as leaders in foodservice instruction, and are certified by the Illinois Department of Health, the Chicago Department of Health, and the National Restaurant Association.
Sanitation Certification Class Information - English & Spanish
- Attendees must bring a photo ID, and a #2 pencil for the exam
- Class formats are as follows:
- English (1 day class format)
- Spanish (2-day class format. must attend both days)
- All class dates listed meet requirements for both first time Food Service Sanitation Manager Certification and Renewal
- Illinois law stipulates the following requirements for Food Service Sanitation Manager Certification:
- A minimum of 8 hours of training inclusive of the exam
- A minimum passing grade of 70% on an ANSI accredited exam, approved by the Conference for Food Protection
- Approved exam must be proctored by an instructor certified by the Illinois & Chicago Department of Public Health
- Please note - all Foodservice Sanitation Manager Certificates expire five years after their date of issue.
- Check your certificate to ensure it is renewed before expiration.
- Walk-ins are welcome.
- Late attendance is not permitted.
