Heather Bublick has always been drawn to the art of hospitality and the power of a great meal. With a degree in nonfiction and creative writing, she initially set out to be a food writer—but her hands-on experiences in the industry led her down a different path. While attending culinary school at Kendall College, Heather interned at the boundary pushing Moto, where she discovered her passion for curating unforgettable dining experiences. It was there that she met her future business partner and Soul & Smoke co founder, Chef D’Andre Carter.
Heather’s journey continued at the Michelin-starred Tru, where she honed her expertise in wine and fine dining service. But her entrepreneurial drive led her to build something of her own. In 2012, she and D’Andre launched a series of pop-up dinners and a boutique catering business called Feast & Imbibe, laying the foundation for what would become one of Chicago’s most beloved barbecue brands—Soul & Smoke.
As co-founder and CEO, Heather wears many hats, overseeing operations, business development, and strategic partnerships while ensuring that every guest experiences Soul & Smoke’s signature warmth and hospitality. Under her leadership, the brand has expanded into multiple locations, cementing its reputation as a powerhouse in Chicago’s culinary scene. Whether she’s forging new collaborations, streamlining operations, or making sure the brisket is as soulful as ever, Heather is the driving force behind Soul & Smoke’s continued success—keeping the fire burning and the barbecue world buzzing.
