Local CityKey - Secure and Valid Form of IdentificationOn April 26, 2018, the Office of the City Clerk launched the Chicago CityKey Program, a government-issued ID available for all Chicago residents. Your business will surely begin, if it hasn’t already, to see customers use their CityKey to prove their identity, address, or age. To that end, City Clerk Anna Valencia has provided information on how the program works and what the CityKey looks like so that your business and its employees are familiar with the identification card. Thus far, several thousand Chicago residents across the City have received CityKeys and the City anticipates that thousands more will become cardholders over the next several months. As the number of cardholders continues to rapidly grow, the CityKey will become increasingly prevalent—more and more Chicago residents will likely begin to use the CityKey as their primary form of identification when navigating their daily lives in Chicago. Per the City Clerk of the City of Chicago, the CityKey is a secure and valid form of government-issued photo identification. StateGovernor Rauner Signs Bill to Allow Breweries to Sell Guest Beer and Cider in TaproomsThis week, Governor Bruce Rauner signed legislation that makes it possible for Illinois brewers to serve a greater selection of beers at their own taprooms, giving smaller breweries new opportunities to expand their businesses without having to open new locations. The new law will also let brewers buy and sell ciders for the first time.
