Chicago Chefs Cook for Ukraine Recap

Thank you to everyone that attended and chefs and sponsors that participated in last night's Chicago Chefs Cook for Ukraine benefit. This incredible evening brought together over 75 local chefs to raise funds for World Central Kitchen's
work benefiting Ukrainian refugee families in need of a nutritious meal. 100% of the event proceeds benefited World Central Kitchen.
Special thanks to IRA Advisory Council member Chef Tony Priolo of Piccolo Sogno and Chef Sarah Stegner
of Prairie Grass Cafe for spearheading the unforgettable event.

James Beard Awards Finalists Announced

This week, the James Beard Foundation announced the 2022 Award finalists with nine nominations going to Illinois. IRA Executive Vice President Mary Kay Bonoma joined the James Beard Foundation for the announcement
in Paradise Valley, Arizona. The IRA and Choose Chicago are proud hosts of the Awards in Chicago through 2027.

Join the IRA for an upcoming Hospitality Industry Roundtable on Tuesday, March 22 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Bureau Bar & Restaurant in the South Loop. This event open to restaurant and hospitality operators only.
This will
be an opportunity for area restaurateurs to connect, share best practices, and discuss the challenges facing the restaurant community. Cook County Commissioner Dennis Deer (2nd) and Alderman Pat Dowell (3rd) will also be attendance to provide city
and county updates to attendees.

IRAEF ProStart Invitational Preview with WGN
IRA President & CEO Sam Toia recently spoke with WGN Radio about the Illinois Restaurant Association Educational Foundation's ProStart Invitational coming up this Saturday, March 19.
Six culinary teams and four management teams will
compete from schools in Chicago, the suburbs, and downstate will compete for prizes, scholarships, and a chance to represent Illinois at the National ProStart Invitational held in Washington, DC on May 6-8.
