City of Chicago Tipped Wage: $6.40; Cook County Tipped Wage: $5.25, Effective July 1, 2019

The City of Chicago has announced the new minimum wage rate for tipped employees, effective July 1, 2019: $6.40 per hour. The City's minimum wage for nontipped employees increases to $13.00 per hour, effective July 1, 2019.

Cook County has also announced the new minimum wage rate* for tipped employees, effective July 1, 2018: $5.25 per hour. The County's minimum wage for nontipped employees increases to $12.00 per hour, effective July 1, 2019.

*More than 100 municipalities within Cook County have opted out of Cook County's minimum wage ordinance.
