City of Chicago Tipped Wage: $6.40; Cook County Tipped Wage: $5.25, Effective July 1, 2019

The City of Chicago has announced the new minimum wage rate for tipped employees, effective July 1, 2019: $6.40 per hour. The City's minimum wage for nontipped employees increases to $13.00 per hour, effective July 1, 2019.

Cook County has also announced the new minimum wage rate* for tipped employees, effective July 1, 2018: $5.25 per hour. The County's minimum wage for nontipped employees increases to $12.00 per hour, effective July 1, 2019.

*More than 100 municipalities within Cook County have opted out of Cook County's minimum wage ordinance. Please check with your local authorities to confirm whether or not this law applies to your business. If your municipality has opted out of Cook County's minimum wage ordinance, you must follow the state of Illinois' minimum wage law
