IRA Testifies on Year-Round Sidewalk Cafes, Ordinance Advances

IRA President & CEO Sam Toia, Advisory Council member Erik Baylis of Big Onion Tavern Group, and Advisory Council member Ron Cain of Kuma's Corner testified to the Committee on License and Consumer Protection in support of an ordinance introduced by Mayor Rahm Emanuel that will allow for year round sidewalk cafe permits in the City of Chicago. 

Sam, Erik, and Ron explained how this is a pragmatic reform that will benefit restaurants throughout Chicago's 77 communities and allow restaurants to bolster their sales during winter months. 

The Committee unanimously approved the ordinance, which now heads to the full City Council for consideration.
