Recently, the Cook County Department of Revenue reissued Regulation-2 and the FAQ on the upcoming Sweetened Beverage Tax, set to take effect July 1, 2017.

The County has further clarified that retailers may break out the cost of the Sweetened Beverage Tax on a receipt at the point of sale. Retailers must, however, have the beverage prices on their menus, advertisements, etc. be inclusive of the soda tax. They are permitted to indicate on their menus, advertisements, etc. that the total price is inclusive of the soda tax.
