From the tender age of eight years old, Chef Steven Lawhorn has been cooking for friends and family. In the kitchen Steven found his creative flair, making classic comfort foods that brought people together and ultimately gained him a lot of attention. When Steven started a catering business in High School, his principal was so impressed by his ability that he contacted the Chicago Tribune leading to an article titled “Students Who Prefer the Kitchen to the Playground.” There was never any doubt that Steven would pursue a profession in the culinary arts. He is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY and holds a bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management from Florida International University. His career has taken him from the Hyatt Regency Chicago, to small family restaurants, national chains and to the Four Season’s Hotel. HIs most recent position, and one he is most passionate about, involves changing the image of food in the health care industry. Home Style Comfort Cooking using the finest quality ingredients paired with dynamic flavors has become his hallmark. It is more than just a style of food or a cliché. He states “It is something that we can all relate to and it can unite us. A really good comfort food can transport you to a simpler moment when we had time to spend with friends and family at the dinner table.”
Chef Steven C. Lawhorn works with Proprietor Stephen Palmer of Palmer Place Restaurant as his Menu and Recipe Development Chef. They share a common passion to provide people with the finest family dining experience.
