Founded in 1914, the Illinois Restaurant Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting, protecting, educating and improving the restaurant industry in Illinois.
ANNUAL MEETING
The Illinois Restaurant Association Annual Meeting & Luncheon will be held on Monday, February 27, 2012 at the Union League Club at 11:30 am. The luncheon will also feature a briefing by Lori Healey, Executive Director of the Chicago G8 NATO Host Committee, in addition to the installation of the 2012 Officers and Board of Directors.

A portion of your tickets may be contributed to the Illinois Restaurant Association Political Action Committee. A copy of our report filed with the State Board of Elections is (or will be) available for purchase from the State Board of Elections in Springfield, Illinois.
TIP CREDIT REGULATION CHANGES
New tip credit regulations issued by the Wage and Hour Division of the U.S. Department of Labor are effective May 5, 2011. The Labor Department has prepared a Fact Sheet on this issue. You may also visit www.restaurant.org/tips for more information on this regulation.
CHICAGO GOURMET
This year’s Chicago Gourmet presented by Bon Appétit, was held Sept. 23-25 in MillenniumPark. Thank you to everyone who attended and participated in the event and we look forward to seeing you all at Chicago Gourmet 2012 - September 28-30 in Millennium Park!
TAX RATE CHANGES TAKE EFFECT IN 2012
Several tax rate changes occur in January, 2012 including the 0.25% reduction in the Cook County sales tax. Please see the following links for new rate information and implementation dates.

Notes:
The MPEA Pier Tax (1.00%) only applies to downtown Chicago restaurants
The Restaurant Tax only applies to Chicago restaurants.
The RTA Tax affects both Cook County and the collar counties (DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry and Will). In the collar counties, the RTA Tax is 0.75%.
MINIMUM WAGE INCREASE EFFECTIVE 7/1/10
